The Province of Ontario is now requiring municipalities to permit:
1) Two additional residential units on lots with a detached, semi-detached, or rowhouse. Examples of these are garden suites or garage conversions
2) A range and mix of housing types such as duplexes and triplexes, and different living arrangements such as co-ownership and home share

The Affordable Laneway and Garden Suite Program offers financial assistance through a forgivable loan, with a potential value of up to $50,000, designed for property owners who are engaged in the construction of a laneway or garden suite and meet the program's criteria.
